Taco Bell Cheesy Gordita Crunch Copycat Recipe

This iconic menu item features a soft, warm gordita shell filled with seasoned beef, lettuce, and a blend of three cheeses. But that’s not all – it’s then topped with a crunchy taco shell and even more melted cheese. It’s the ultimate cheesy indulgence, and now you can make it at home with this easy copycat recipe. So grab your cheese grater and let’s get started!


  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 head of iceberg lettuce, chopped
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Mexican blend cheese
  • 8 soft gordita shells
  • 8 crunchy taco shells
  • 1/2 cup sour cream


  1. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium-high heat until it is browned and fully cooked.
  2. Drain any excess grease from the beef, then add the taco seasoning and 1/2 cup of water. Stir to combine and let simmer for 5-10 minutes.
  3. While the beef is cooking, chop the lettuce and mix together the three types of shredded cheese in a small bowl.
  4. Warm the soft gordita shells in the microwave or on the stovetop.
  5. To assemble the Cheesy Gordita Crunch, place a soft gordita shell on a flat surface.
  6. Spread a spoonful of sour cream on the center of the shell.
  7. Sprinkle a layer of the shredded cheese blend over the sour cream.
  8. Top with a generous spoonful of the seasoned beef.
  9. Add a layer of chopped lettuce on top of the beef.
  10. Carefully place a crunchy taco shell on top of the lettuce.
  11. Fold the edges of the gordita shell up around the taco shell, forming a “crunchwrap” shape.
  12. Repeat with the remaining ingredients until you have assembled eight Cheesy Gordita Crunches.
  13. Serve hot and enjoy the cheesy goodness!
